My introduction/experience
by happy@last ini have only just recently found this site, in fact only recently gone online to do research of my own about jws.
before i left i had only gone on my gut instinct, not even realising i was not alone with my feelings.
the week i was appointed an elder some 11 years ago, i had had to write to a congregation many miles away from me about how unloving they were (more details below).. not long after i started to have concerns about jws, expecially as the message of 'following the bibles message' subtly changed to 'follow the fds', this did not sit well with me.

Wack Job MIL Thinking Sandy is Another Sign of "THE END"
by LostGeneration ini live nowhere near the east coast, nor does my jw mother in law.
but according to my wife, mommy dearest thinks "sandy" is the latest sign that gawd almighty is about to bring about the end.. so i ask my lovely jw wife what she thinks, amazingly she says its probably just another storm, though it does look bad.
i tell her yes, i agree, and if there is anything we can do to help out, i am willing to help.

I think I stumbled onto the eventual plan for the governing body teaching today.....
by EndofMysteries inon the jw.org site, look at the 2/1/2012 public wt, page 27 of the pdf...section 4"how are jehovah's witnesses organized today".
if anybody noticed, i mentioned i thought that no mention of 'faithful and discreet slave' possibly since 2010 in the public placed wt's.
i've read all of them backtracking to 2/1/2012 so far, and so far, my suspicion has proven true, no mention.

EOM you clarified later that this is only in the public editions of the magazine that they refer to them as elders. That actually makes sense because people on the outside know what is meant by the term elder but would not understand the term faithful and discreet slave. just my 2 cents. Leslie

Changing my life step #1

DataDog Excellent! It will benefit your health and you get valuable bonding time with your daughter. Sounds like a win-win situation. The gym that I used to belong to had instructors that were one time members. It could be the road to a very satisfying career and lifestyle change. Very happy for you. -Leslie-

His poor wife! How do you wrap your head around being married to such a monster. I noticed Holt said that everything seemed "surreal". Going for the insanity defense perhaps? As far as viewing porn, if it was regular adult porn that is one thing but when it is child porn, he is a very dangerous, sick & twisted individual. Makes me wonder if there is any history of molestation in KH records about him. The more we learn about this case, the uglier it gets. Leslie

If you believe God exists, what are your thoughts on what pleases him most?
by Fernando inour family has come to believe that god really wants each individual to personally and independently seek, find and walk with him - quite apart from what other humans say, think, believe or do.. we believe we were created as semi-autonomous beings.
when our inner compass is recalibrated, and we then self-direct, the outcomes seem best.. when we are instead led by humans, their hierarchies, organisations and ideas, the outcomes on the whole seem unfavourable.
legalism (rules), moralism (a moral code), ethnocentrism (doctrine), and gnosticism (knowledge) may seem meritorious.. yet these do not seem to lead to the deep inner transformation needed.

Fernando: I'm neither a believer nor unbeliever at this point in my journey. I guess if I were a 100% believer then I would have to say that Christ's command to love God with whole heart, mind, soul and strength and to love one's neighbour as ourself would pretty much sum it up for me. I do not think any religion is a gateway to God's approval. (if he exists) -Leslie
